In COLOR TV #4 wird das Videosignal eines Zeichentrickfilms an vier Projektoren übertragen, die an die Decke des Raumes montiert sind. Streufilter mischen die Bilder zu monochromen Farbtönen und verteilen das projizierte Licht gleichmäßig im Raum. Die weißen Wände reflektieren ihrerseits die ständig wechselnden Lichtfarben. Analog zum visuellen Eindruck wird der Originalton zu einem Soundnebel verfremdet.

In COLOR TV #4, the video signal from an animated film is transmitted to four projectors affixed to the ceiling of the room. Filters transform the images into monochrome colour fields, and the resulting light is distributed evenly across the space. The white walls reflect back the constantly changing tinted light. Parallel to the visuals, the original sound is distorted into a sort of aural fog.

Im Ausstellungsraum ist ein leicht erhöhtes Podest aus Transport- paletten und Spanplatten eingezogen, das mit weißem Kunststoff beschichtet ist. Das Podest nimmt bis auf einen geringen Abstand zu den Wänden die gesamte Fläche des Raumes ein. Wie Scheinwerfer beleuchten zwei Projektoren von oben die Mitte der Plattform. Sie projizieren einen Actionfilm. Dessen Bilder sind durch optische Filter manipuliert, so dass am Boden nur ihr jeweiliger Farb- durchschnittswert als monochrome Lichtfläche erscheint. Helligkeit und Farbwert wechseln ständig, entsprechend den Bildern des Films. Die weiße Bodenfläche reflektiert das farbige Licht in den gesamten Raum. Der Originalton des Films wird ungefiltert wiedergegeben.

A low rostrum or platform made of transport pallets and chipboards coated with white plastic is installed inside the exhibition space. The platform extends over the entire surface of the room leaving just a narrow margin at the walls. Two projectors attached to the ceiling are directed towards the middle of the platform like spotlights, projecting an action film whose images are modified by optical filters so that at any one time only the current average colour value is shown as a monochrome field of light. Brightness and colour alter constantly according to the rhythm of the film. The white floor of the platform reflects the coloured light back into the space. The original sound is played back unmodified.
